European Red Pine (European Scots Pine), scientifically known as Pinus silvestris, originates from Northern Europe, including Finland and Sweden.
The harvesting period of the wood is approximately 80-100 years. It has dense growth rings, hard texture, and a density of up to 510 kg/m3. Its distinguishing feature is the prominent heartwood, which tends to be orange-red-brown, while the sapwood leans towards a light yellow color. With a larger trunk diameter and fine growth rings, the wood exhibits moderate hardness and a specific gravity ranging from 0.5 to 0.55.
The texture of European Red Pine (European Scots Pine) resembles that of American Yellow Pine, but with finer grain. It offers better stability than Southern Yellow Pine. However, the wood often contains more resinous knots and exhibits orange-red-brown heartwood.
European Red Pine (European Scots Pine) lumber is available as Rough (unprocessed) and KD (kiln-dried, reaching 12-14% moisture content). It is sourced from the upper part of the tree trunk, where active branch growth occurs, resulting in small and mostly live knots. Its lumber boasts high utilization rates, enhancing production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
