Nanyang Ashwood, also known as batu decking, is distributed from Ceylon and India to Malaysia, Borneo, the Philippines, and the Moluccas, with the main importing regions being the Philippines, Sabah, Sarawak, and Indonesia.

The sapwood of batu decking is yellow with occasional transparent resin exudation. The heartwood is yellow or reddish-brown, which darkens to a dark brown when exposed to air. The wood grain of batu decking is slightly uniform, with a highly interlocked grain pattern, sometimes exhibiting wavy or curly patterns. Batu decking is heavy and hard or extremely heavy and hard. When cut with a blade, it may exhibit a waxy gloss. It has strong resistance against termites and excellent durability when in contact with the ground, making batu decking ideal for both indoor and outdoor flooring, including terraces.
