  • American White Ash Decking Characteristic
  • American White Ash Decking Specification
  • North American White Ash, scientifically known as Fraxinus spp., is primarily found in various regions of the eastern United States. The lumber is categorized into "Northern White Ash" and "Southern White Ash" based on their growth regions and market supplies. The wood is further classified into light-colored sapwood (outer layer) and brownish-yellow heartwood (inner layer). Due to its various commercial subspecies, it is also commonly known as Ash or Ashwood.

There is a noticeable color difference between the light-colored sapwood and the darker white or even brown heartwood. With an air-dried specific gravity ranging from 0.60 to 0.72 g/cm³, White Ash has a high density, making it more resistant to decay. The wood possesses a coarse but uniform grain texture, with a hard texture and good processing properties. It has minimal shrinkage during drying, making it less prone to deformation. It can be stained and polished to achieve a fine surface.
