European Red Pine, also known as European Redwood, scientifically named Pinus silvestris, is native to Northern Europe, including Finland and Sweden. Its harvesting period is typically around 80-100 years. The wood features fine and dense growth rings, with a hard texture and a density reaching up to 510 kg/m3. Its distinct heartwood, which tends towards orange-red-brown, is a characteristic feature, while the sapwood tends to be light yellow. With a larger tree diameter and fine growth rings, the wood has moderate hardness and specific gravity ranging from 0.5 to 0.55.
The texture of European Red Pine resembles that of American Yellow Pine, but it has finer grain and better stability compared to Southern Yellow Pine. However, it tends to have more resin canals, and the heartwood exhibits an orange-red-brown color.
Uses of European Red Pine European Red Pine (European Redwood) exhibits excellent structural strength and processing capabilities. Depending on its application, it can be used as timber for wooden structures, interior decoration materials, solid wood furniture components, woodworking DIY materials, and more. Additionally, it can be processed into finger-jointed panels, decorative corner pieces, tongue and groove wall panels, tongue and groove flooring, and other products.
