GOST 3916 Grading Explanation
B / BB / Cp / C Grade
-
European birch, originating from cold regions such as Europe, North America, and Northeast China. In addition to its beautiful appearance, the wood features uniform density, fine and soft material structure, smooth surface, and excellent machining performance. The European birch plywood imported by Yimoku comes from high-latitude regions in Europe, ensuring stable and excellent wood density.
US EPA and CARB P2 formaldehyde emission standards for plywood
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) have established strict formaldehyde emission standards for composite wood products produced in or exported to the United States. European birch plywood undergoes third-party certification testing and complies with the formaldehyde emission regulations for plywood in the United States, making it suitable for sale in the US market and safe for indoor use.

European birch plywood is known for its excellent strength, peel resistance, and bonding performance, making it suitable for various applications such as flooring, furniture, pulp, interior decoration materials, vehicle and ship equipment, plywood, and CNC machining. Depending on the intended use, it can be classified into two types of adhesive for indoor and outdoor use:
Outdoor European birch plywood
Utilizes WBP grade (weather and boil-proof) adhesive, which is weather-resistant and boil-proof, and also complies with CNS standards, making it a low-formaldehyde plywood.
Indoor European birch plywood
MR grade (moisture-resistant and moderately weather-resistant) adhesive is used, providing moisture and weather resistance, with formaldehyde emission levels complying with CNS standards at F3 grade. Due to the different adhesive components, for high-temperature laser cutting processes, it is recommended to use MR indoor plywood that does not easily show scorch marks.
Different grades and adhesive applications- B/BB grade, WBP adhesive: Suitable for CNC assembled furniture, perforated boards, tabletops, staircase boards, and other areas with high requirements for surface cleanliness.
- MR adhesive: Ideal for laser-cutting decorative toys, speakers, musical instruments, and phone stands.
- BB/BB grade, WBP adhesive: Used for cabinet shelves, wall panels, and veneer processing.
- CP and C grade: Suitable for bed bottoms, cabinet back panels, and other areas where appearance is not a primary concern.
-
Surface repair does not affect structural performance. The grading of plywood panels is based on external factors such as surface knots, nail patches, and the quantity of synthetic repairs, which do not compromise the structural safety and usability of the plywood.

左右尚有資訊Birch Plywood Specifications
The maximum allowable error value for length and width dimensions is +/-4.0mm.
● Dimensions of 2440 X 1220 mm and 1830 X 1525 mm are both with longitudinal wood grain.
● Both MR glue and WBP glue comply with CNS national standards for low formaldehyde emission from plywood.
Storage Key Points for European Birch Plywood
● When storing European birch plywood, keep the packaging intact and free from damage to avoid moisture absorption.
● Whether used indoors or outdoors, it is recommended to paint all six sides of the European birch plywood to protect it from UV rays and moisture.
● Storage environments should be kept dry and well-ventilated to prevent European birch plywood from being affected by high moisture levels, which could lead to fungal growth.
